NEPSI Colloquium 2026
Malmö University and Forum for Social Innovation Sweden are hosting the NEPSI Colloquium on Social Innovation on September 28–29, bringing together doctoral students and early-career researchers for two days of in-depth academic exchange.
Scientific Seminar Series
In the spring of 2025, MSI launched its digital scientific seminar series on social innovation. The aim is to strengthen the academic community by presenting and discussing current research on innovative ways to address pressing societal challenges. Interested researchers and doctoral students from all disciplines and institutions are welcome to participate. The seminars are held digitally at lunchtime, in Swedish or English. We are now taking a break over the summer and will return with new seminars in the fall.

Ph.D. course in social innovation enhances the knowledge of future researchers
In the spring of 2025, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden once again offered a doctoral course in social innovation, this time in collaboration with Uppsala University. The course helps prepare future researchers.
Marine culture project concludes, but its results live on
Researchers at the Department of Art, Culture, and Communication at Malmö University, together with Forum for Social Innovation Sweden and the Marine Knowledge Center, celebrated the conclusion of the three-year “Bauhaus of the Seas Sails” project in November 2025. The project is part of the EU’s New European Bauhaus initiative.
Learning process aims to increase knowledge about co-creation in research

EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Ph.D. Course on Social Innovation
In the spring of 2026, Uppsala University will offer the doctoral course “Social Innovation – In Theory and Practice” (5 credits). The course is open to anyone admitted to a doctoral program at a Swedish or international institution of higher education. It is being offered in collaboration with the Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI) and Forum for Social Innovation Sweden.
Master's Program in Innovation and Social Change
Starting in the fall semester of 2026, Lund University will offer the master’s program “Innovation and Societal Change” (60 credits).

Social Innovation for Sustainable Development, Studentlitteratur
The research anthology *Social Innovation for Sustainable Development* provides an up-to-date overview of research on social innovation in Sweden in relation to sustainable development and the 2030 Agenda. The contributing authors include researchers from various universities and disciplines, as well as other stakeholders in society. The anthology was published in the spring of 2022 by Studentlitteratur in collaboration with Forum for Social Innovation Sweden.
