Here we bring together projects and collaborations Forum for Social Innovation Sweden or involving Forum for Social Innovation Sweden . They help drive development in various fields and build shared knowledge about social innovation at the local, regional, national, and European levels. The projects bring together research, practice, and policy, where new solutions are developed and experiences are analyzed and built upon. The lessons learned form the basis for our continued development of knowledge and methods, as well as our work to disseminate and apply the results.

Boosting Initiatives and Resources to Develop Social Innovation

Boosting Initiatives & Resources to Develop Social Innovation (BIRDS) is a transnational collaborative project between the national centers of excellence for social innovation in France, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden. The project aims to strengthen and professionalize these centers of excellence and build their capacity to work with social innovation stakeholders.

European Social Enterprise Monitor

The European Social Enterprise Monitor (ESEM) is Europe’s first comprehensive survey on social entrepreneurship and is run by the Euclid Network in collaboration with national partners. Sweden participates through Forum for Social Innovation Sweden and a broad partnership aimed at enhancing understanding of the conditions and development of social enterprises in Sweden and Europe.

The Göran Bredinger Scholarship

The Göran Bredinger Scholarship recognizes young social entrepreneurs who develop innovative solutions to societal challenges. The scholarship is worth 50,000 Swedish kronor and is awarded annually in collaboration between Forum for Social Innovation Sweden and Göran Bredinger. The initiative aims to strengthen social innovations with the potential to create social value and long-term sustainability.

Competence Centre for Social Innovation within the European Social Fund

On behalf of the Swedish ESF Council, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden serves as the national center of expertise for social innovation within the European Social Fund (ESF) during the ESF+ programming period 2021–2029. As a center of expertise, we promote effective, sustainable, and value-creating social innovations that address work-related societal challenges through knowledge, methodologies, and collaborative platforms. This mission is carried out in collaboration with the National Network for Coordination Associations, Coompanion, and Famna.

Regional Ecosystems for Social Innovation and Social Transformation (RESIST) is an EU-funded Interreg project that strengthens social innovation and social entrepreneurship in the Baltic Sea region. Through new models and enhanced expertise, regional ecosystems for social innovation are being developed.

Collaboration for Social Innovation in Örebro County

Collaboration for Social Innovation in Örebro County (SAMSÖ) is an ESF-funded project led by the Örebro County Region, the Activa Foundation, Fontänhuset Örebro, the Örebro County Adult Education Association, and Örebro University, with the aim of expanding the Partnership for Social Innovation and finding pathways for young people who are neither working nor studying.

A stronger ecosystem for social innovation in the north

Strengthened Ecosystem for Social Innovation in the North (SESIN) is a three-year project run in collaboration between Forum for Social Innovation Sweden at Luleå University of Technology and Umeå University, Coompanion Norrbotten, Coompanion Västerbotten, and Samforma. The project aims to change perceptions of innovation and strengthen the support system for social innovation in our region.

Bauhaus of the Seas Sails

Bauhaus of the Seas Sails Malmö was a pilot project within the New European Bauhaus that, between 2023 and 2025, explored how a new maritime culture could emerge in Malmö. Through collaboration between the Department of Art, Culture, and Communication (K3) and the Forum for Social Innovation Sweden at Malmö University, the Marine Knowledge Center, and local stakeholders, opportunities were created where Malmö residents and marine life were viewed as neighbors with a shared responsibility.

Building Capacity for a Sustainable Society

Building Capacity for a Sustainable Society (BuiCaSuS) was an EU project that ran from 2021 to 2023. Its goal was to strengthen cooperation between countries and facilitate the exchange of experiences to establish or develop national centers for social innovation, in line with the European Social Fund and the EaSI program.
