Our History
Since its inception in 2010 Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Forum for Social Innovation Sweden has grown into a national platform for knowledge and collaboration on social innovation. Together with universities, the public sector, the business community, and civil society, we are advancing efforts to address complex societal challenges, both nationally and internationally.

2010
Forum for Social Innovation Sweden
The KK Foundation has commissioned Malmö University and Mid Sweden University to create a hub for social innovation in Sweden.

2012
Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Malmö Becomes a Permanent Institution
Malmö University and Region Skåne have decided to make Forum for Social Innovation Sweden a permanent institution and continue its operations. The City of Malmö joined Forum for Social Innovation Sweden in 2014.
Government mandate
The Swedish Government Forum for Social Innovation Sweden tasked Forum for Social Innovation Sweden with serving as the national platform for social innovation and social entrepreneurship.

Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Awarding the Göran Bredinger Scholarship
Göran Bredinger, in collaboration with Forum for Social Innovation Sweden a new scholarship for young social entrepreneurs.

2015
Social Innovation Summit
The first edition of the Social Innovation Summit was held in Malmö in November. Around 600 people gathered over two days, and the theme was “Shaping a Nordic Model of Social Innovation.” A total of six summits were held, with the last one moving to a digital format during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
100 Social Innovations
The "100 Social Innovations" initiative will be launched in the spring of 2015, when we will begin the nomination process and call for examples of social innovations. The selected entries will be compiled into a publication to be released in the fall of 2017.Learn more about "100 Social Innovations."

National Knowledge and Collaboration Platform
With funding from Vinnova,Forum for Social Innovation Sweden is being establishedForum for Social Innovation Sweden five regions and at five additional universities across the country: Jönköping University, Luleå University of Technology, Malmö University, Umeå University, and Örebro University.

Forum for Social Innovation Sweden a Mandate from the Swedish ESF Council
Forum for Social Innovation Sweden mandated by the Swedish ESF Council to represent Sweden in the establishment of a European Center of Excellence.Read more.

Forum for Social Innovation Sweden a Mandate from the Swedish ESF Council
On behalf of the Swedish ESF Council, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden has been designated asCompetence Centre for Social Innovation the European Social Fund (ESF), in collaboration with the National Network for Coordination Associations and the Partnership for Social Innovation in the Örebro County Region.Learn more about the Competence Center.
New agreement and the University of Borås as a new regional hub
A new three-year partnership agreement for Forum for Social Innovation Sweden by the University of Borås, Jönköping University, Luleå University of Technology, Umeå University, and Örebro University, with Malmö University serving as the host institution. The University of Borås becomes a new regional hub and the sixth institution to join the national knowledge and collaboration platform for social innovation.
