In what may feel like a time marked by crises, there is a need to rediscover our ability to collectively imagine, create, organize, and educate for hopeful futures. Future-making Academy is a concept designed to collectively train our critical imagination. By challenging entrenched assumptions and daring to dwell longer on societal problems and uncertainties, we aim to help steer society toward a more sustainable and inclusive future, while creating the conditions to foster multiple possible futures.
Reading Across Disciplines: Learning in Turbulent Times is a publication about the reading circles held at the Future-making Academy. These have been spaces where we have invited participants to read academic texts, poetry, and fiction in relation to one another and across theoretical discourse and practical experience. The aim is to inspire new and different ways of engaging with academic literature and to open up reading and conversation across genres.
The idea for a book club at the Future-making Academy was developed at Malmö University by researchers working closely with Pernilla Glaser and Forum for Social Innovation Sweden.
