Preliminary Study and Needs Analysis of a Platform Featuring Examples of Innovations in Children’s Rights (2025)

study on children's rights

Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Malmö University was commissioned by the County Administrative Boards—as part of their national mandate regarding children’s rights—to investigate in 2024 whether there is a need for and potential user interest in a knowledge-based platform featuring collected examples of innovations in children’s rights. Examples that can contribute to the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Sweden, among those who work strategically with children’s rights in Sweden’s municipalities, regions, and county administrative boards—those described in this report as children’s rights strategists.

The two main questions for the feasibility study are:

  • Is there a need and potential among Sweden’s child rights strategists for a knowledge-based platform featuring examples of child rights innovations?
  • If so, what does this need and user potential consist of?

The feasibility study was conducted in collaboration with the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR) and the Children’s Ombudsman through their representation on the study’s reference group.
