This spring, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden on new approaches to knowledge sharing. At the same time, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden is further developing Forum for Social Innovation Sweden thematic work on innovation and collaboration.
“We see that our in-depth thematic work, combined with cutting-edge expertise in social innovation, can provide an opportunity to contribute even more effectively to driving change and building capacity to strengthen social innovation as a force for social good in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda,” says Hanna Sigsjö, Executive Director of Forum for Social Innovation Sweden.
Themes highlight needs and issues
When the pandemic struck, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden decided not to suspend its work, but instead to think outside the box and adapt.
“We identified thematic areas where the crisis is driving change and calls for mobilization and cross-border collaboration, where social innovation is part of the solution,” says Hanna Sigsjö.
Forum for Social Innovation Sweden now Forum for Social Innovation Sweden on further developing its thematic work on innovation and collaboration in the areas of children’s rights, equitable public health, the future of work, safety in public spaces, and digital inclusion. This thematic work places a focus on needs and key issues.
A great need for research, collaboration, and innovation across borders
A common thread running through the 2030 Agenda, the new research bill *Research, Freedom, Future – Knowledge and Innovation for Sweden*, and Horizon Europe is the emphasis placed on the importance and necessity of cross-border research, collaboration, and innovation in addressing complex societal challenges; at the same time, the European Social Fund is placing a stronger focus on social innovation through ESF+.
Develops new methods and processes to foster deeper relationships and collaborations
In line with this, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden is Forum for Social Innovation Sweden developing new methods, processes, and formats for in-depth, cross-sectoral forums for knowledge-sharing and collaboration. These forums are held at various times throughout the year across the country in close collaboration with local, regional, national, and international stakeholders.
From webinars that provide deeper insights into current topics to coalitions where stakeholders from different sectors identify common challenges and build relationships to foster joint development and deeper collaboration. Forum for Social Innovation Sweden organizes networking events aimed at expanding networks and partnerships.
“MSI’s thematic areas are highly relevant and important to the City of Malmö and the challenges we need to address in order to bring about positive change. Through thematic arenas, we can work together to create the conditions for deeper knowledge, the exchange of experiences, and cross-border collaboration, says Helene Norberg, steering committee member of Forum for Social Innovation Sweden and head of the Analysis and Sustainability Department at the City of Malmö.
The SI Summit will not be held in the same format as in previous years in 2021
Forum for Social Innovation Sweden not be holding the Social Innovation Summit in its current form in 2021. As the Nordic region’s largest gathering for social innovation, the SI Summit has attracted over 4,500 participants over the six years it has been held.
“What the participants value and particularly highlight is the cutting-edge, cross-sectoral forum; the importance of key themes and issues; and the opportunity to develop their knowledge, share experiences, find inspiration, and expand their networks,” says Hanna Sigsjö.
“What’s also appreciated is the atmosphere, the generosity, and the professional execution. We’ll carry all the insights and value gained from the summit forward into our future work,” says Hanna Sigsjö.
Future trends and best practices at the forefront through the Social Innovation Summit Session and Foresight
This spring, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden a new concept Social Innovation Summit Session and Foresight which will feature presentations and moderated discussions at various times throughout the year with thought leaders, individuals, and organizations at the forefront of social innovation who are looking toward the future.
“They will raise important issues, share their reflections and insights into the future regarding what needs to be done in this field, and, not least, highlight best practices that can inspire us all,” says Charlotte Ahlgren Moritz, Chair of Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Vice President for Innovation and Collaboration at Malmö University.
National film initiative on collaborative research that is transforming Sweden
Forum for Social Innovation Sweden also Forum for Social Innovation Sweden in the film initiative Collaborative Research That Changes Sweden. Good examples of collaborative research that contributes to societal benefit are showcased through short films and news articles.
