Malin Lindberg, a professor at Luleå University of Technology, has been appointed as a new visiting professor of social innovation at Malmö University. Among other things, she will contribute to Forum for Social Innovation Sweden's as a center of expertise for social innovation within the European Social Fund.

Malin Lindberg is a professor of gender and technology in the Design research program at Luleå University of Technology. She is also an affiliated professor at the Center for Civil Society Research at Marie Cederschiöld University College. She has extensive experience conducting research on the development of innovative, inclusive, and socially sustainable solutions to current societal challenges in the areas of work, welfare, and urban and rural development. Using a participatory/interactive research approach, she develops new knowledge in collaboration with stakeholders from civil society, the public sector, and the business community.
Malin Lindberg has now been employed as a part-time (25%) visiting professor at the Department of Urban Studies at Malmö University for three years.
What will you be focusing on as a visiting professor?
– Among other things, I hope to contribute to the ongoing development of knowledge about how social innovation can lead to real and sustainable social change, so that it doesn’t just fizzle out. For example, what is needed for time-limited projects to evolve into long-term initiatives that tangibly improve people’s living conditions.
Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Malmö University serves Competence Centre for Social Innovation the European Social Fund, on behalf of the Swedish ESF Council. In this role, Malin Lindberg will help compile and analyze lessons learned from initiatives designed to support innovation processes in ESF projects and programs aimed at fostering a sustainable and inclusive working life.
