Co-create Malmö

An event occurs

February 12, 2026, 1:00 PM–4:00 PM (Add to calendar)

Event venue

Malmö University, General Hospital

Welcome to a workshop on how we can engage Malmö residents in efforts related to sustainability, democracy, and welfare.

Samskapa Malmö is a learning network for those who want to develop more inclusive and collaborative working methods in Malmö. It brings together employees from the City of Malmö, community organizations, academia, and the business community—as well as Malmö residents who are committed to their city. Learn more about the Samskapa Malmö network here.

At our fifth meeting, we will focus on community engagement, social mobilization, and democratization—and on how these concepts can be applied in our efforts to build a sustainable and equitable Malmö for everyone.

  • How can we bridge the gaps between sectors to create spaces and contexts where engagement has room to grow?
  • How can we carry out our work in a way that simultaneously strengthens democracy and people’s influence?

Together, we can get a clearer picture of what’s happening in this area in Malmö right now!

When you register, you can share a brief description of any initiatives or activities you’d like to highlight that you believe are currently fostering engagement among Malmö residents!

What happens during the meeting?
  • Community leaders, representatives from the City of Malmö, researchers from Malmö University, and social movements share their experiences and examples of ongoing work and new initiatives.
  • We listen, learn, and discuss based on current examples of challenges and opportunities. During the meeting, we engage in structured discussions where everyone’s questions, initiatives, and challenges are given a voice.
  • In an Initiative Workshop, you can invite others to explore an idea, gain a deeper understanding of a problem, or brainstorm potential collaborations.

So please join us in co-creating based on what matters most right now!

This session is a standalone event but also serves as a follow-up (Part 2) to the training session that City of Malmö employees were invited to by the Environmental Administration as part of the Speak-up project earlier this January.
