Yallatrappan, SWOPshop, and Peppy Pals are three of the eleven social innovations selected to showcase and discuss their initiatives at the Social Innovation Summit, which begins today in Malmö. The other eight are IT-Guide, the Seved Farming Network, My Dream Now, Rude Food, Macken, Swedish with Baby, Aldrigensam, and Skjutsgruppen.

Over the course of two days, they will be featured in the exhibition “100 Social Innovations, present their innovations on the main stage, and participate in a workshop on the same topic.

The purpose of the project is to highlight best practices that can serve as inspiration and a knowledge base for anyone seeking to promote the development of social innovation in Sweden in various ways. We will compile these best practices in a publication, and they will also form the foundation for our ongoing efforts to highlight the potential of social innovations to address societal challenges.

“It is clear that there is a desire, among both policymakers and the general public, for a compilation of different types of social innovations that can serve as a source of knowledge and inspiration in efforts to promote social innovation. We want to meet that need by highlighting these examples,” says Hanna Sigsjö, Executive Director of Forum for Social Innovation Sweden.

“100 Social Innovations” is a collaborative project led by Forum for Social Innovation Sweden. Coompanion and Forum are also participating in the project. The goal is to publish a compilation of 100 social innovations in 2016.

“But of course, we want as many people as possible to get involved in the ongoing work to compile a comprehensive collection of examples of social innovations in Sweden. A great way to get involved is to attend the workshop during the Social Innovation Summit, where we’ll discuss the process moving forward,” says Erika Augustinsson, who is leading the project.
