Forum for Social Innovation SwedenForum for Social Innovation Sweden at Malmö University and the Skåne County Administrative Board have formed a coalition for equitable and successful education. The coalition brings together stakeholders from outside the school system to explore how everyone can work together to help children and young people thrive and succeed in school.

The Coalition is a digital meeting model designed to facilitate knowledge sharing across sectors, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden . Its purpose is to bring together stakeholders working on a specific societal challenge. The goal is to foster understanding, share knowledge, and enable innovative collaboration.

Forum for Social Innovation Sweden developed methods for in-depth thematic work where social innovation plays a key role. These coalitions bring together stakeholders who can learn from one another and find new ways to collaborate for the safety and well-being of children,” says Hanna Sigsjö, Executive Director of Forum for Social Innovation Sweden.

Today, there are significant differences between and within the municipalities of Skåne

“For us at the County Administrative Board, this is part of our work to promote safe and positive conditions for children to grow up in. Succeeding in school and feeling comfortable there is a key factor in well-being throughout life. We see that there are currently significant differences for children and young people between and within the municipalities of Skåne, says Ulrika Jerre, Head of Social Sustainability, Skåne County Administrative Board.

“We chose universal school attendance as a societal challenge for the coalition. We recognize that stakeholders beyond the school system can play a vital role in this effort, and we’re pleased with the breadth of participation we’ve achieved. Together, we can make a difference,” Jerre continues.

The coalition consists of 25 organizations

The coalition consists of 25 different stakeholders from government agencies, municipalities, the cultural sector, civil society organizations, and the business community. They will meet four times this spring to join forces in addressing the issue of equitable and comprehensive education.

An incredibly important issue that needs to be given more attention

“The main reason I’m participating in the coalition is that I’ve seen how collaboration and initiatives that create opportunities for young people to build their self-confidence and optimism about the future can help improve their school experience. This is an incredibly important issue that needs to be highlighted more,” says Nadine Flatt, project manager for Erikshjälpen’s Framtidsverkstad.

We hope to build networks and develop new knowledge together

Anna Singhateh, project manager and coordinator at Pedagogisk inspiration Malmö in the City of Malmö, and Teresa Tomašević, assistant professor at Malmö University, are also participating in the Coalition. They work with Muvah—Malmö Youth’s Path to Work through Higher Education, a knowledge alliance between the City of Malmö and Malmö University that aims, among other things, to map and understand young people’s paths through the education system and on to working life.

“A coalition for an equitable and comprehensive school system is fully in line with the work we do at Muvah. It couldn’t be more right! To address societal challenges, we must work together. We hope to build networks and develop new knowledge together,” says Anna Singhateh.

“We believe that through our research, we can not only contribute to new ideas and activities, but also help initiate and test them,” says Teresa Tomašević.
