Forum for Social Innovation Sweden has received the go-ahead to launch the academic publication series *Social Innovation Studies* through Malmö University Press. The series aims to make current research on social innovation more accessible to a broad Swedish and Scandinavian-speaking audience.
The academic publication series *Social Innovation Studies* represents a new step in the work of the Swedish Center for Social Innovation Research ( Forum for Social Innovation Sweden's ;Forum for Social Innovation Sweden) to collect, quality-assure, and disseminate research on social innovation. This field focuses on innovative ways of addressing societal challenges through social goals and means, and has established itself in the 2000s as an interdisciplinary field of research both in Sweden and internationally.
Forum for Social Innovation Sweden plays a central role in strengthening and disseminating Swedish research in this field. Through this new publication series, the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare ( Forum for Social Innovation Sweden ) aims to reach readers in academia in particular, but also stakeholders in the public sector, civil society, and the business community.

This publication series provides Forum for Social Innovation Sweden with another channel for highlighting research that can contribute to knowledge, collaboration, and transformation in addressing current societal challenges.

Fills a gap in Swedish research publications
The reason Forum for Social Innovation Sweden is now launching its own publication series is that much of the academic literature on social innovation today appears in international journals and anthologies in English. As a result, this research does not always reach a broad Swedish- or Scandinavian-speaking audience. Social Innovation Studies will therefore provide scientifically peer-reviewed and freely accessible publications that can be used by researchers, students, practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders working to address societal challenges.
“The publications will be released as open access, with the goal of making the research as widely available as possible,” says Malin Lindberg, visiting professor of social innovation at the Department of Urban Studies at Malmö University and chair of the editorial board for the publication series.
The peer review process must follow Malmö University Press’s guidelines, including an editorial review, external double-blind peer review, and collegial review before a final decision on publication is made. The Editorial Board consists of researchers from both Swedish and international universities and institutions of higher education.
More publications are planned
Forum for Social Innovation Sweden plans to publish at least one volume every two years in the series. The first planned publication in the series is the research anthology *Co-Created Research Addressing Societal Challenges*, with a tentative release date in 2027. There are also plans for a Swedish textbook on social innovation and an English-language anthology that presents Swedish or Scandinavian research in the field to an international audience.
