Sara Bjärstorp has been appointed the new executive director of Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Malmö University. Her mission is to develop national partnerships. The goal is also to establish Forum for Social Innovation Sweden a strong international player.

“To solve complex societal challenges, we must collaborate across borders. I look forward to leading the national and international work Forum for Social Innovation Sweden. It will be exciting to work in a concrete way to disseminate research-based knowledge about social innovation that contributes to societal change,” says Sara Bjärstorp.

A strong leader with an interest in collaboration, social innovation, and culture in its various forms

In Sara Bjärstorp, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden gains Forum for Social Innovation Sweden leader with extensive experience in academic leadership and the development of education and research programs at Malmö University. She has a keen interest in collaboration and a solid understanding of the various conditions and opportunities for partnerships between academia and other sectors. Most recently, Sara Bjärstorp has served as a dean’s advisor tasked with strategically developing collaboration at the Faculty of Culture and Society. Culture in its various forms is particularly close to her heart. She is strategically responsible for the university’s cultural collaboration initiatives in Malmö and the region, and she holds a number of external positions, including as a board member at Luleå University of Technology and Media Evolution.

“I’m bringing the lessons I’ve learned from my years as a leader in academia to my cross-sectoral platform work at Forum for Social Innovation Sweden. I’m very interested in collaboration and social innovation, and through my recent work in cultural collaboration, I’ve developed a broad network of external contacts that will also be valuable in my new role,” says Sara Bjärstorp.

Hoppas will contribute to the development of Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Malmö University

Charlotte Ahlgren Moritz, Vice President for Collaboration at Malmö University and Chair of the Steering Committee for Forum for Social Innovation Sweden, hopes that the appointment of a new Executive Director will contribute to the development of both Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Malmö University.

A platform that is a national leader in social innovation

Forum for Social Innovation Sweden a national knowledge and collaboration platform for social innovation and social entrepreneurship, headquartered at Malmö University and operating at Jönköping University, Luleå University of Technology, Umeå University, and Örebro University. Forum for Social Innovation Sweden with the public and nonprofit sectors, academia, and the business community, and its work takes place at the local, regional, national, and international levels. Currently, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden is focusing Forum for Social Innovation Sweden the thematic areas of work in the future, children’s rights, digital inclusion, health equity, and safety in public spaces. Forum for Social Innovation Sweden and organizes various types of meeting forums, such as lectures, panel discussions, networking events, and conferences. Taking a major step into the European market to become an international player

Forum for Social Innovation Sweden is now taking Forum for Social Innovation Sweden major step into Europe through the EU-funded project “Building Capacity for a Sustainable Society” (BuiCaSuS), in which Forum for Social Innovation Sweden with Reach for Change and Inkludera, represents Sweden in a European center of excellence alongside France, Spain, and Latvia.

“I look forward to working with Sara Bjärstorp, our Forum for Social Innovation Sweden, and our partners to further develop Forum for Social Innovation Sweden, to continue strengthening and advancing national efforts in collaboration and social innovation, and, through European cooperation, to become a key player in Europe and internationally,” says Charlotte Ahlgren Moritz.

Fact: Sara Bjärstorp, new Executive Director of Forum for Social Innovation Sweden
Sara Bjärstorp holds a Ph.D. in English with a specialization in literary studies from Lund University. Before joining Malmö University, she worked at Linnaeus University. From 2011 to 2020, she served as head of the Department of Art, Culture, and Communication (K3) at Malmö University. Over the past year, Sara Bjärstorp has served as a dean’s advisor for the strategic development of collaboration at the Faculty of Culture and Society, as a member of the Council for Collaboration, and as the strategic lead for Malmö University’s cultural collaboration initiatives in Malmö and the region. On September 15, Sara Bjärstorp will assume the three-year position of Executive Director of Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Forum for Social Innovation Sweden at Malmö University.
