Coalition to Help More People with Disabilities Take the Stage

This fall, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Malmö University is facilitating a cross-sectoral coalition process as part of the Viaductus project. The goal is to help more people with disabilities take center stage.

Viaductus is a collaboration between Moomsteatern, Skånes Dansteater, and ShareMusic & Performing Arts, and is carried out with support from the General Inheritance Fund. The project aims to bridge the gap between the performing arts industry and artists with disabilities.

This fall, a select group of stakeholders will participate in a coalition-building process.Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Forum for Social Innovation Sweden Forum for Social Innovation Sweden at Malmö University is leading and facilitating the process. The participants include stakeholders in the performing arts sector and various organizations working to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in the performing arts,

“Since Viaductus aims to bridge the gap between the performing arts industry and artists with disabilities, it’s important to foster exchange and dialogue in various ways,” says Malin Johansson, project manager for Viaductus at Moomsteatern.

We hope to help bring about change through concrete solutions

– Within the coalition, we want to ensure that the invited stakeholders have a chance to turn words into action by approaching common problems in new ways. We want to break patterns, overcome silos, and spark engagement! We hope the coalition will contribute to progress through concrete solutions. But we also hope that our meetings will stimulate the formation of new clusters and networks. And our hope is to find ambassadors for these issues within the various organizations,” continues Malin Johansson.

A meeting model for exploring complex societal challenges

The Coalition Model is a meeting format developed by Forum for Social Innovation Sweden a diverse group of individuals and organizations come together to explore a complex societal challenge. Over the course of four meetings, participants share perspectives, knowledge, and experiences and work to develop innovative solutions.

“Through our partnership with Forum for Social Innovation Sweden , we Forum for Social Innovation Sweden access to tools and methods that allow us to truly pool our resources across sectors. The expertise in cross-sectoral work and innovation that Forum for Social Innovation Sweden brings to the table Forum for Social Innovation Sweden the project to achieve more than if we were leading the process on our own. It’s inspiring to plan the coalition’s work together,” says Malin Johansson.

Wants to encourage participants to share their thoughts

Forum for Social Innovation Sweden to help support efforts to include more people with disabilities on stages in Skåne and Sweden.

“Viaductus is an important project. I hope that, as a coalition, we can look beyond the challenges and obstacles. My hope is that we can help participants see that there may be viable alternative paths forward—if only we’re willing to explore them,” says Lotta Orban, the coalition’s facilitator and project manager at Forum for Social Innovation Sweden at Malmö University.
