The internet is an exciting place for both children and adults. It has its good sides, but there are also things that can make you feel uncomfortable. That’s why it’s important for both children and parents to know what to do if something unpleasant happens.
Are you a parent of a child aged 6–9 who has recently received or is using a cell phone, computer, or tablet? Frida Lygnegård, a researcher at Jönköping University, is leading a research study aimed at helping children feel safe when using a cell phone, computer, or tablet. Ultimately, the study also aims to prevent cyberbullying and harassment, as well as provide parents with strategies for talking to their children about what can happen online.
How does it work?
If you’re interested in participating, you and your child will take a mobile driving test as part of the study.
The Mobile Driver's License was developed by the Friends Foundation and Telia. It consists of an educational section with information and a follow-up quiz. You can complete this over the course of one or more days, depending on how long you and your child spend discussing the various topics.
You’ll complete the Mobile Driver’s License program online with your child at www.mobilkorkortet.se. After you and your child have completed the program, you’ll be invited—along with other parents whose children have also completed it—to a digital interview where you’ll have the opportunity to share your thoughts on how the program has benefited your child. In the study, Frida Lygnegård would also like to ask your child a few questions; this interview is also conducted digitally, and as a parent, you are of course welcome to participate if you wish. Watch a video about the study here.
