Innovations in children's rights for greater equality in children's rights throughout Sweden

The County Administrative Boards and Forum for Social Innovation Sweden a joint event during Human Rights Days (MR-dagarna), focusing on innovations in children’s rights in Sweden. Human Rights Days will take place on December 9–10 at Kistamässan in Stockholm.

The County Administrative Boards and Forum for Social Innovation Sweden has conducted a preliminary study showing that the country’s child rights strategists feel there is a lack of practical examples of how children’s rights are implemented. At the same time, there are innovative solutions across the country that strengthen children’s rights—so-called child rights innovations. By sharing these child rights innovations, there is potential to create a more equitable and democratic society.  In 2025, Forum for Social Innovation Sweden a platform featuring examples of innovations in children’s rights. One of these practical examples of how children’s rights can be strengthened, which will be presented at the session, is “Rätt på riktigt” (Real Rights), developed by Malmö mot Diskriminering (MmD) to help students and guardians find information about their rights to accommodations and support in school. There will also be a presentation by children’s rights researcher Frida Lygnegård. Finally, there will be a panel discussion between MmD, the County Administrative Boards, Kalmar Municipality, and the children’s rights researcher on how we can promote more equitable children’s rights in Sweden.
