Hello, Malmö residents!

Would you like to join us at the beach this summer? Our names are Yénika and Stefan, and we’re organizing a free beach outing for anyone who’d like to come—we’ll be treating you to swimming, stories, and food...those who want to can go snorkeling and take underwater photos. You'll have the chance to get to know the ocean, new places, and new people!

We are artists who love the sea and often go there to swim. We want to explore different stories about the sea—from Malmö and all corners of the world—both good and bad.

Yénika is from Pachuca, Mexico, and Stefan is from Lund here in Skåne. Together, we speak Swedish, English, Spanish, and a little German. We’d love to have you join us! Food and equipment rental are included. A warm welcome!

Practical information:

When:  Wednesday, June 18, 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Where: Meet outside the entrance to Rosengård Library at 9:30 a.m. to take bus 5 together, and then bus 7 to Ribersborgsstranden, the beach, and Naturum Öresund. Please arrive on time; we will take bus 5 at 9:45 a.m. from Rosengård C. We will be at and around Naturum Öresund, which is located right by the water; there are also restrooms and other facilities there. We will be back at Rosengård Library shortly after 4:00 p.m. How:  We will first lead a session with activities for everyone, where we will share stories about the ocean and invite all participants to do the same. We will use methods from theater and design and work with the body, the voice, images, and writing, among other things. Anyone who wants to can swim and snorkel, or walk barefoot in the shallow water; it’s also fine to just hang out on the beach. We’ll lend out an underwater camera so everyone can take pictures of whatever they like. We'll be serving a light meal. Everything is free and included, including a group meal, but registration is required and binding. There is room for a maximum of 15 people per outing.

Some of the videos and photos taken during the field trip will be included in a film and an exhibition about the ocean, which will be shown at the Rosengård Library this fall. Those participating in the field trip will be invited to contribute material to the film and take part in a collaborative workshop where we will create the film together. Only videos and photos that participants have approved will be included.
