Innovative design research + Citizen engagement = Green and just future 

In October 2021, the UN developed a strategy for leadership in climate and social sustainability. Based on ongoing design research at Malmö University, we discuss in this conversation how the concept of social sustainability can be understood and what role it has in relation to other sustainability goals. 

In what way can design and architecture in relational, material and digital formats explore, define and develop innovation and social sustainability? How can interdisciplinary research and cross sectoral collaboration meet wicked problems and enable inclusion for people at the margins? What relationship between fields of knowledge and practitioners are particularly meaningful in this work? And how can the sketchy in the sense temporary and intentionally incomplete be helpful in these processes? Forum for Social Innovation Sweden, Malmö University and The sketch festival, invite you to a conversation about how design research can work with social sustainability.
